About Tai Chi Chuan (Taijiquan) 太極拳
Tai Chi Chuan is inspired by nature and derived from nature. It is filled with spiritual and philosophical essence.
The spirit of Tai Chi Chuan can be summarised as “Mind over Matter”. Its movement is fluid, gentle and elegant. It coordinates abdominal breathing (Dan Tian) to cultivate the Chi (Qi), life energy, and the Chi (Qi) flows inside the body (in the meridians).
Therefore, Tai Chi Chuan is actually Chi Kung (Qi Gong) and has many proven health benefits. For example, after practising Tai Chi many people with chronic health problems experience improvement in the following areas:
— Relaxation from stress
— Stiffness and pains associated with arthritis
— Physical coordination and flexibility
— Improvement in balance (decreasing the risk of falls)

Instructor – Mr Albert Tang
Mr Tang moved from Hong Kong to Nottingham last year. He has been practising traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan for over 30 years and is a Certified Instructor of Tai Chi for Health Programmes.
Learners of his current Tuesday Tai Chi for Diabetes (TCD) class, which started from October 2014, enjoy the class very much.
Mr Tang demonstrated Tai Chi Chuan in the Chinese New Year Event in February 2015 organized by the Broxtowe Borough Council.
