*** These sessions are currently taking a break for 2018***
As part of my ongoing training under the tutelage of Zen Master Daizan Skinner Roshi of Zenways I have been asked to start running Dharma discussions.
As such these Monday evening drop-in meditations are changing emphasis to allow this to happen.
In line with the principles of Dana and the Dharma being taught for free I will no longer be charging for these sessions but operating them on a donation basis instead.
The start time is slightly revised beginning 15mins earlier at 7:15pm. This is to allow new members to orientate themselves and be helped to find the correct meditation posture with a 30min discussion starting at 7:30. We will then practice Zazen (sitting meditation) as normal from 8-9pm with a period of Kinhin (walking meditation) in the middle.
This is a new direction for the group and one designed to be an inclusive conversation, not just me giving commentary on scripture, although you do not have to speak if you do not wish to.
I must stress you are not required to become a Buddhist now or at any time in the future. Just partake as much or as little as you like with a group of like-minded individuals.
It is my intention to show how these teachings are still relevant to the present day and are not just left overs from a 2500yr old religion.
It is my wish that in time this group will grow organically into a Sangha and at that point I will invite my teacher to formally open it.
Lastly these sessions are still suitable for use as a taster session for meditation and mindfulness before taking the full 8wk Mindfulness for Wellbeing course.
I look forward to seeing you.
